Do you feel like you know a lot of things and could talk about, create content for, or educate on for days?
If you were asked to be on a podcast you’d be super jazzed and you’d raise your hand to say, “I’ll talk about whatever it is you want me to talk about.”

Or… Have you ever gotten asked to be on a podcast or wanted to pitch to be on a podcast but you don’t have any idea what makes your story special and then you get all the impostor syndrome then end up chickening out?
Here’s the thing that will open up simple solutions for your business whenever you need to create content or create a new product.
It’s going to be the easy test for you to be able to decide “yes, I will work on this,” or “nope, that has no place in my business right now.”
Create Your Verticals
Having a content creation strategy is important not only for a blog but for every piece of content you create. Blog posts, Video, Facebook Live, Instagram Live, Instagram Posts, Twitter Posts, speaking engagements, presentations, courses you create, opt-ins, the list goes on and on.While it might be exciting for you to say “yes” to any and every opportunity, at some point you’re going to have to figure out what you want to be known for.Click To Tweet By having specific categories or topics you become known for, it becomes easier and easier for people to say, “talk to if you need help with that.”
Once you have your categories for your verticals, you can build products, blog posts, high end offers, keynote presentations, any other content from there.
How to Organize your Verticals
Brainstorm all the things you like to talk about and are knowledgeable about. You might find inspiration from the past 20 facebook posts you’ve made (or questions you’ve answered in groups), blog posts you’ve written with much direction or strategy, instagram written captions.
In those pieces from Step 1 did you see a theme? Figure out which one of those
things you are most excited about. Pick 1-3 categories of things to talk about (no more than 5 topic areas!).
What do you believe about these topics? There are plenty of people who talk about the same topic. What’s your unique spin? What is your special flair that other people don’t have?
Figure out what content you can create around each of the 1-3 categories you chose. I’m guessing you can create a list of 5 possible facebook/instagram/blog posts where you educate on this very subject. You could even take some of your “philosophy” points and turn that into content.

- Say “yes” to every opportunity that comes around
- See somebody else talking about a topic and say, “oh I know something about that, let me write a blog post about it”
- Create a new product or service
- package based on what you see somebody else doing
- Decide what your content area(s) that you want to be known for are
- Create a philosophy bank – things that set you apart on that particular topic
- Pitch only to the topics / philosophies when you’re looking for guest or educational opportunities.
Once you’re clear on your verticals, it gets so easy to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to opportunities. It becomes easier to know exactly what you can write blog posts or content on. You also know where your “product holes” are and where you might want to create an offer for people to be able to purchase.
